Ross became a registered builder in 2008 after completing a 9 month Certificate IV. in building.

Throughout 2009 Ross has continued training completing a Professional household sustainability assessment course with the Curtin University of technology becoming a certified home sustainability assessor for the government.

Following in this train of thought lead to more study becoming registered as a Master Builders Green Living Builder.

Ross was successfully accepted by the Bendigo branch of the Master Builders association in 2008. The Bendigo branch conduct monthly meetings managing to keep their members informed of the ever changing legislation in this industry.

Ross regularly contributes to the Bendigo Weekly Newspaper writing his column Building issues, informing readers of building changes and ideas within the industry.

Ross also performs Pre Purchase House Inspections for people wishing to be well informed prior to purchasing a home.

Ross’ interests lie in building environmentally friendly housing with focus on meeting low emission targets through carefully sourcing materials that have minimal amounts of embodied energy (a small carbon footprint), have a high thermal capacity, is recyclable or will reduce the running costs of the household long term.

The selection of Low Volatile organic compound products or low VOC’s are also considered in the building process, these are products that have reduced levels of toxins to other materials which combined can affect the health of the home owner.

Ross also considers the future needs of the household making use of spaces to suit the unfortunate needs of aging or disabilities through simple design principles that enable a home owner to adapt the home to suit, with a minimal disruption to the household.

Ross’ selection of tradesmen are a result of seeking people who represent similar values to himself, that of being trustworthy and respectfully considering the clients and other tradesmen that follow them is of paramount importance.
